Job Title: Customer Service Advisor
Type: Modern Apprenticeship
Contract: 12-month contract
Hours: Monday – Friday, you’ll be allocated an 8-hour shift between 8.00am – 6.00pm which includes a 40minute lunch break and two 10 minute breaks

Each year, we recruit new Modern Apprentices to work with us, learn new skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification. We’ve had huge success with the programme in previous years with recruits moving into full time positions across the business.
The programme will involve work-based learning, where the training is directly linked to your role. You’ll be supported by our experienced professionals in all aspects of customer service and get hands-on experience dealing directly with our customers.
You’ll gain a range of new skills including communication, problem solving and team working, which are all transferable in any future roles.

You’ll be based in our office on Lochside View, Edinburgh working in a small team. Please be assured we have strict health and safety guidelines in place to ensure all of our colleagues are kept safe and well.

What might a day in this job look like?
You’ll be responsible for resolving our customer enquiries by being a friendly voice on the end of the phone and ensuring our customers receive a first-class service. Taking the time to understand a customer’s needs and delivering a resolution will be key to your role. We work hard to keep our promises for customers and exceed expectations on each and every call. Attention to detail is really important too, to ensure our customer records are kept up to date and accurate.
You’ll be given the support and training you need to navigate our systems and policies to fully understand our business so you feel confident in providing a great customer experience. We’ll also help you understand where you can offer our customers savings on their bill and support them to save water too.
It’s a busy role in a fun environment, but we have support on hand and offer lots of ways in which you can develop your learning and understanding of the water industry.
What will I learn?
First and foremost, you’ll learn to become a customer service champion. You’ll be confident in delivering an excellent service for our customers and know the important steps you need to follow to do this.
You’ll gain an understanding of the business water industry too and will learn about the other areas in our business and how we all work together to ensure our business goals are met.
You’ll also develop important interpersonal skills such as communication, problem solving and team working, which are all transferable in any future roles.
On completion of the programme, you’ll gain an SVQ Level 3 in Customer Service.
What qualifications/qualities are required for the role?
- National 5 in English & Maths
- This role would particularly suit someone with an interest in customer service.
